Chi-town Stand Up!

While, sitting in the subway station (I'm so friggin excited that I'm back home, with our janky subway station where rats, are permanent residents!!!! Crazy, I know...) waiting on the next train to take me to yet, another checkpoint, I listened to the voice of an angel belt out an old spiritual! I wanted to stand atop of the bench and scream, "Ms. Sophia's Home!", until my voice box rattled a bit, lol!

I'm enjoying this hunny sweet voice, and I could feel this tense energy next to me, but we'll get to her in a minute. There, was also a matured lady (who just so happened to be white, but I haven't a clue what her ethnicity was) that sat on the end and she stated, "isn't that a Christmas song?" and I replied, "No, I thought the same thing initially, however as I continued to listen it became clear that it was an old spiritual." I then said, "it's okay, as Christmas songs are spiritual songs, they are celebrating Jesus, we just call them Christmas songs! lol". She chuckled, while the lady smashed in between us (a black matured lady, that came across as a devout Christian) began to preach to us about Christ, she then turned to the lady on the end and asked her if she'd accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior? The lady, very uncomfortably, yet firmly said, "No!" The smooshed lady, began to go on a tangent as to how this lady can accept him right now, all she had do is repent, blah, blah, blah...and, yada, yada, yada....she then wanted to know what "church" we both attended. And, since she'd asked me, she had picked the right one today!

So, I'm sitting there as I believe in God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, I am not a huge fan of the "church" nor am I a fan of religion, but definitely am into spirituality. I told her just that, so she started in on me with the same rhetoric she'd just tormented that sweet lil lady to my right with. I simply told her, I am NOT going to argue with you as you are entitled to your beliefs and truths, just as everyone else is. I told her, I DO NOT have religious conversations/debates with anyone, as people are so adamant about their religion, church and positions. I went on to tell her, that so many people get lost and caught up in their VEHICLE (religion) to God, that they forget, that it's all about your PERSONAL relationship with him/her. I also said, what people need to learn how to do, is RESPECT the beliefs of others, regardless if you're in agreeance with or otherwise. She told me, that if people didn't call "Jesus", Jesus, then they were crazy, because it wasn't in the Bible to call him anything else. I told her, every religion, have their own Holy Book, which may use different language and terminology, but the message and core are pretty much the same. She, retired with, "that's crazy!"

Now, last time I checked any version of the HOLY BIBLE, it clearly stated to not pass judgement as it's a SIN to do so...see, that's the problem I have with narrow-minded people. And, a lot of them are sitting in the churches, tearing the pews down, and screaming the loudest while there! They want to FORCE their beliefs down your throat, but their ears are turned off when it comes to someone else's beliefs. Dictatorship, has nothing to do with God and it isn't Christ like, as God doesn't affect free will.

But, I've told the short version of this long-winded story to make one simple point, when and why did people become so narrow and closed minded? What went so wrong in their lives, that they believe, the only thoughts in their head, are the ABSOLUTE truth? What happened to challenging your own beliefs, as it doesn't matter what you call your Creator, he/she created us all, with a voice and gave us the free will to use it. It makes very little sense (to me...and that's my position/judgment) to create such an array of people, and it be only way to reach God, Allah, Buddha, etc...I, at times am flabbergasted at such ignorance, but as my grandmother often says, it takes all kinds of people to make up the world, I have to often remind myself of this.

I HIGHLY recommend a book for Christians, Muslims, Catholics, Non-religious, Protestants, Baptists, etc. to read, it is called, "THE SHACK" by William Paul Young, it's time for folks to challenge their own beiliefs!

Namaste...
