Listen when people speak...

I love you Mike...again, you've always healed and touched me. I've always felt connected to you.

In general, we are very poor at listening to other people when they speak. If we could not be so anxious to get our "schpill" out or our say, I'm sure this small yet mountain of a problem could become extinct. Our opinions and positions (which is nothing more than our personal judgments) are extremely important to us; I believe it gives us the pseudo illusion that we are in some sort of control.

I'm sure with the passing over of Michael Jackson many folks have been affected and touched. However, the only person that I can honestly speak for is myself, and his death has made me challenge myself and beliefs, once again. Keeping it real with myself, I could learn to listen more. I could truly tune into the hurts and pains and discomforts of others and what they've experienced in this world, that can sometimes, dole sucker punches that can completely knock the wind out of you. Again, empathy goes such a long way...taking the time to TRULY listen to someone's story, may fill both their and your bucket that day. You may make a new friend, inspire someone, or just have found a healthy way to pass the time. The point is, we need to dig deeper into our superficial souls that's filled with holes (that we attempt to "plug" up with dumb sh*t that doesn't mean anything) and come up with a helping hand, a lent ear and a compassionate heart.

Today, I'd like to celebrate the God in you...in every single one of God's children. It amazes me how so many of us haven't a clue how phenomenal we are, by birthright! We are children of God and it's high-time we began to conduct ourselves in such a manner. God listens to our woes, and cries, and complaints, and worries, and new plans that's opposite of his, and the list goes on and on. So, how can we demand such things from God and others if we aren't able to provide them...sounds a bit unfair and selfish and self-absorbed to me.

God, thank you for all that you encompass and I'm eternally grateful that you've filled us with all that you are. It is an honor and a privilege to be your child. Thank you for creating me in such a perfect light, but more importantly, thank you for allowing me to be aware of it. :)

Namaste...
